"It's a given that my mother has had the most influence on my life, but besides my mother, one of the women I most admire is Dorothy Day. She was one of the founders of the Catholic Worker. She lived the true meaning of her faith in devoting her life to the forgotten and despised poor and defying a social/political system of injustice. She had an FBI file a mile long and would probably be proud of that had she known about it. She was not a shrinking violet; she was fierce in her condemnation of the skewed priorities of our society and government, and fierce in her defense of the poor. I would like to be overwhelmed by her influence so that I may be moved to help effect a most needed rearrangement of social values."
March is Women's History Month. To celebrate and honor women, I'm posting a different woman's photograph each day during March and on into April.
