This hill outside the office where I work is a lovely respite from the crush of civilization. By winter it's a verdant green, spilling lazily across the land, the occasional cow munching its sides. It turns to a burnt brown come summer, but still offers a wide open invitation to soar, as I often see the turkey vultures and ravens doing.
Sadly, the earth movers arrived this week to make way for more commercial space. Or warehouse space. Or God knows what.
Goodbye, hill. Goodbye earth.
