"The woman I admire the most is my mother, Ms. Mamie Lee Jenkins, a 'southern girl' from Natchez, Mississippi. Mother is a very kind, friendly, loving individual who meets no strangers and greets everyone with open arms and a smile. All are welcome in her home and she's ready to feed you half to death in a moment's notice. And by the way she still plays a mean hand of poker at 86. I will always remember mother saying, 'Baby, it's a cold world out there," and 'Nobody owes you a thing in life, you've got to fend for yourself.' Another Mamie-ism is, 'You better stay ready, so you don't have to get ready.' I've been so blessed to have a mother that kept it real and prepared me for life."
March is Women's History Month. To celebrate and honor women, I'm posting a different woman's photograph each day during March and on into April.
