In a rare display of government efficiency, the Los Angeles Mayor and City Council have sought to ease congestion at Los Angeles International Airport by allowing aircraft to land on Interstate 105.
They're selling the program to disbelieving Angelenos by claiming there won't be any more waiting for the airport bus to take you to the airport parking lot to fight the exiting airport traffic.
"Instead," said city spokesman Bill Huckmeister, "just leave your car parked along the interstate shoulder, then hop in right after touch down!"
When questioned about baggage pickup, Huckmeister admitted there are some technical glitches: "You have to pick up your baggage in the carpool lane."
